Usability Test Engineer
BoardVantage is seeking a bright, talented and excited Usability Test engineer with a can-do attitude and the desire to be part of a new brand of world-class services. You will work along side a team of dedicated software engineering professionals using leading technologies, the best tools and processes available.
The position is a Usability Tester with the responsibility to test the application for usability. This is NOT a UI development role. This is strictly a Usability tester role, where candidates should have a Human-Factors type of background.
The ideal candidate has solid technical skills, with some programming ability, experience with quality assurance and a desire to implement test automation technologies. Collaboration with other team members and interaction with cross-functional teams is required; therefore the ability to work both individually and with others is essential. Contribution to the functional specifications, design, and documentation of our complete product line is encouraged. Being a flexible fast-learner will be advantageous for success in this emerging industry.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Usability Testing on BoardVantage application, with a strong focus on the User Experience.
- Ensure the development, execution and update of test plans/test scripts, test cases, identify serious issues, defects and deviation from user specifications in applications.
- Prepare status and statistical reports to communicate test results on an ongoing basis to project team, customers & management.
- Follows and ensures compliance to software development life cycle processes.
- Ensures customer satisfaction with product quality.
Requirements:
- 2+ years experience in software quality assurance (part of this time may be in software development)
- 1+ years experience in Usability Testing of applications with a strong focus on the User Experience.
- Ensured and involved in appropriate level of performance test efforts on various application technologies
- Strong working knowledge of design and development methodology
- Strong working knowledge of testing methodologies and strategies
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle
- Ability to make decisions and demonstrate problem solving skills; analysis, prioritizing and risk taking
- Must have experience writing clear, detailed test plans
- Strong organizational and self-management skills
- Prefer Certification in Software Quality Assurance
- SOA experience a strong plus
- Familiarity with Eclipse, or other extensible Java IDEs
- Experience with open source projects.
- Familiarity with Linux and SQL
